The assessment strategy is designed to help students build a well-rounded understanding of health and social care while developing essential knowledge, skills, and competencies. It takes into account key factors such as intended learning outcomes, industry standards, student demographics, and effective teaching approaches to enhance the learning experience.
A strategic and comprehensive approach is used in selecting and designing assessments. Various methods, including essays, reports, presentations, debates, and group projects, are utilized to measure student progress. Whenever possible, real-life simulations are incorporated, allowing students to develop structured arguments through reflection, analysis, and evaluation. Students will conduct research in specific areas, drawing objective conclusions supported by appropriate referencing. They will also apply evidence-based writing skills to make professional recommendations and solve problems for best practices in the field.
Group projects require active participation from all members, with evaluations carried out through peer presentations and reviews.
Presentations, both individual and group-based, will focus on specific scenarios and include a question-and-answer component.
Group debates will revolve around key topics within health and social care, where students will present and defend a position collaboratively. This format encourages teamwork, respectful engagement with peers, effective communication, and the ability to construct persuasive arguments.
