“Experience plays a crucial role, which is why professional work placements are an essential component of most undergraduate programs.
How Does It Work?
You’ll be supported in securing a placement, whether locally in Leeds, elsewhere in the UK, or internationally. A variety of workshops, events, and live ’employer challenges’ will help you build confidence and prepare for your placement.
During your placement, you’ll gain hands-on experience, broaden your understanding of different career sectors, and build valuable references and industry connections. This experience will help you make informed career decisions and guide you in finding the right path for your future.
Students have undertaken placements in various settings, including residential care facilities for adults and older individuals, youth work teams, the NHS, children’s and family centers, as well as with charitable organizations and non-governmental agencies. You’ll also have opportunities to explore career options in primary care beyond clinical roles, such as social prescribing, public health, community development, and digital health enterprises.”
“Our main goal is to equip you with the professional skills and experience needed to kickstart your career.
The current curriculum is designed to prepare you for fulfilling careers in areas such as public health, digital health, community development, health commissioning, health and justice, and psychological wellbeing. You’ll also have opportunities to progress into various health or social care graduate schemes, as well as postgraduate clinical and non-clinical roles.
Upon graduation, you’ll receive continued support in pursuing your chosen career, including mentoring, CV and interview preparation assistance, and access to graduate employability events.”
